Half Mag Day

March 16th is a special day in Mag World, when we share our love of logarithmetic with our friends and neighbors.

This year, 2026, marks the first annual Half Mag Day celebration.

Half Mag Day is only two days after Pi Day, which makes it easy to remember that π² is very close to 10 (or ↑1 in Mag World).

Feast or fast

A way to celebrate Half Mag Day is to take some aspect of your normal day-to-day routine and bump it up or down a half mag:

Put 3x as many mushrooms in your salad.
If you go out for lunch, leave 3x as much as your normal tip.
Work only a third of the day (but don’t try to work a triple day)!

Mag Math: √10 = 3.162…

In Mag World, taking the square root of a number is just dividing its mag number by 2. Since ↑1 is 10, this means that ↑0.5 (a “half mag”) is the square root of 10, which is about 3.16.

If we have ↑2 screws, that’s 100 screws, and a half mag more screws would be ↑2.5, or 316 screws.
